Rodarte nyfw 2011

Julia Saner looking stunning at Rodarte

I’m not the first to praise Rodarte for their versatility. They have yet to get stuck in a shtick a la Alexander Wang. Known for their intricate textures and layering of fabrics, I was surprised to see how pared down their FW11 collection was. Fortunately, the simplicity is beautiful. While the above wheat print has been receiving mixed reviews I think it’s so elegant and beautiful. Pairing photo prints with such a flowy, feminine dress is something totally new, and I for one think it works. All this is to say nothing of the gorgeous styling, which has been a real low point this fashion week.

Linnea Regnander models another beautiful Rodarte number.

Esme Wissels shows another example of why Rodarte should keep it simple

Yigal Azrouel nyfw 2011

Peach making a comeback at Yigal Azrouel

I'm dying for these clean lines.

A different take on "color-blocking" that I much prefer to the in your face geometric trends

So excited by how many all white ensembles have been shown this season

nyfw 2011 highlights

Karmen Pedaru shows of the amazing tailoring and exciting colors on display at this fall's Derek Lam show.

I love the sweater trend this season, so wearable. Done impeccably here at Kimberly Ovitz.

Cool masculinity at Araks.

Tati Cotliar shows off a little fun amidst all the black at Peter Som

Fun prints at Rachel Comley

Shocked that something this elegant and innovative is from Victoria Beckham's collection. Modeled by Anabela Belikova.

nyfw 2011 standouts

Iris Egbers walking in an elegant Doo.Ri dress, hard to believe the LBD can still feel modern

Julia Saner in Jason Wu. I guess I'm OK with neutrals being over if we can get colors this rich.

Finally, something in nyfw that doesn't look like it's been designed to sell at Target; beautiful, dramatic coat by Jeremy Laing

I would KILL for this totally wearable NAHM dress. The color is so incredibly rich and beautiful, without begging for attention

nyfw fw11 Jenni Kayne

Kel Markey walking in Jenni Kayne NYFW2011

Jenni Kayne was an unexpected delight for me. The collection feels like a highly wearable Dries Van Noten. Colorful, without being overwhelming. The fit on nearly every piece is insane. Everything’s a little loose but hangs just right on the model’s body. I’m so excited that cozy sweaters are actually a runway trend this season, comfort here I come!

Martyna Budna at Jenni Kayne NYFW2011

Are you kidding me with these silk blue jeans? Genuis.
